MAY 12 OPEN HOUSE a SUCCESS!

Piano Mill had a full day on May 12th, hosting its first public Open House for close to 400 people to kick off the new location and the maiden performances at “The Soundboard Performance Stage”. From 11-7pm there were a variety of different musical acts, including Guitarist Jon Finn, Famed singer pianist, Al Halliday and Jazz Vocalist Amanda Carr. Internationally touring keyboardist and Piano Mill teacher, Dan Kenney, demonstrated the Gallileo Digital piano. HighSchool band, Millhouse, rocked their set and Piano Mill students performed recital pieces on the Rhinestone-bejeweled 9 ft Baldwin owned by Liberace and everyone enjoyed a tour through the Restoration Mill. Piano Mill celebrates Cinco de Mayo

Piano Mill celebrated Cinco de Mayo at the Abington Senior Center, but the space was filled with children from pre-school age up to teens enjoying music, dance and cultural events. Many stopped by our table and learned about how a piano works and even played a few notes on “My First Piano” a digital starter piano that turns into a desk. Many entered a drawing to win the piano as well as signed up for “Kiddie Keys and Melodies” a group lesson program offered for 3-6 year olds starting in July at Piano Mill with Kim Engle.

PIANO MILL partners with KAWAI

Piano Mill of Rockland, MA is now an official Kawai Dealership, offering brand new Kawai pianos ranging from uprights to the popular RX5 Artist Grand Piano. The first shipment of pianos are arriving this week which is one week before an Open House on May 12th. Rob Norris is excited to have the new pianos and Kawai signage on display for the event because Kawai has such great brand recognition and he wants people to know that Piano Mill will always have a selection of uprights and grands available for purchase. Bryan Harvey, the Kawai rep, was impressed by Piano Mill’s new 15,000 location and thought that the business was already thriving enough to offer the dealership. Both Rob Norris and Bryan Harvey are anxious to advertise this partnership.

PIANO MILL is hosting an Open House to celebrate the new building at 217 Centre Ave. in Rockland. Although still being remodeled and under construction, there will be tours through the Restoration facility, a chance to sit and play the famed bejeweled Liberace 9ft grand, and LIVE continuous music through the day from 11AM to 7PM. All ages invited. Performing artists will grace the stage in Piano Mill’s very own performance hall called “The Sound Board” with featured performers such as guitarist Jon Finn at 11AM and vocalist, Amanda Carr with “Le Creme de Les Femmes” at 4pm. Piano Mill moving to bigger Rockland location!

February 23, 2012: YES.. Piano Mill is moving both their Restoration Mill in Hanson and Hanover showroom to their new location at 217 Centre Avenue, Rockland, MA 02370. This new location boasts over 15,000sf that includes plenty of space for lesson rooms and performances. Operations Director, Amanda Carr, hopes to quickly implement a variety of music programs, many offered free to the public like the “brown bag piano lunch series” where once a week, folks can come with their lunch and listen to music for an hour around noontime. ”We want this to be a mecca for people to come and enjoy a lot of different musical events as well as a place that offers new, used and restored pianos for all levels and budgets”. Owner operator, Rob Norris, is just looking forward to getting more sleep once he has moved the hundred plus pianos to the new building. But, for now, there is still plenty of work to be done before the doors officially open on March 1st… and planning a grand opening celebration by May 1st… so STAY TUNED!!

Piano Mill provides piano to WICN performance hall

When WICN Public Radio station upgraded it’s Worcester, MA performance studio, the one thing missing was a quality grand piano that would be inviting to high level performers. So, Piano Mill brought over a beautiful 5′ 4″ baby grand to their 50 Portland St. location in time for their December 14th, on-air Holiday Jazz Jam. Piano Mill’s own Amanda Carr provided the opening vocals for the show and was thrilled to be accompanied by Pamela Hines playing the Mason & Hamlin. Piano Mill plans to switch out these pianos on a regular basis and rotate a variety of quality instruments throughout the year. We’re hoping people will hear and love these pianos so much, they’ll buy them, but in the meantime, it sure does raise the bar for players and listeners at WICN 90.5. Black Friday hits a Harmonic Chord @ PianoMill!

With so many sales filling mall parking lots and creating long lines at traffic lights, Piano Mill wasn’t spared the influx of customers to our Hanover showroom. Sure, the 45% off Baldwin sales brought in a lot of folks who obviously did their homework and realized that we truly had a Black Friday sale worth coming in for,.. but many came in with the mindset to purchase a pianoand fill their home with music for holidays. A big selling item was our player systems. Not only did we sell pianos with player systems already in them, but we also provided a number of people with player systems installed on a restored piano they picked out at our mill. We also received a number of calls from people who wanted us to install a player system in their existing piano. Add in the fact we let a half dozen pianos go for a fraction of cost to those who needed an inexpensive starter piano and we’d say that Black Friday was a delightfully dark day over here at Piano Mill.
